My musical journey

I started my journey learning and playing music when I was in 2nd grade, taking my first piano lessons. That year, I played the National Anthem at my school’s talent show. I picked up trumpet in 6th grade, playing in my middle school band, and that led me to joining my high school marching band. Since then, life has taken me on a road forged by my passion for music and creativity that I’ll forever be grateful for.

I’ve always been a creative person. I used to write short stories (and still do from time to time), design logos for fun, and have loved video games since I was a kid. But music, and the feeling it gives me, has always been unmatched. And since I became involved in marching band, and then composing my own music as a result, that passion has only grown and expanded into other areas of music creation and performing. I went to a Composition Intensive at the Boston Conservatory the summer before my senior year, and it gave me the confidence that I was meant to be a composer, that I belonged.

I started as a Music Learning and Teaching major at ASU in 2019, and over that time played in the Sun Devil Marching Band, an ASU jazz band, concert band, trumpet studio and worked with middle school students in the classroom. I switched to ASU’s Popular Music program in 2022, making the decision to take a chance and focus in on composing with virtual instruments. During my time in the program, I took classes in vocal performance, DJ lab, songwriting, producing, composing for film and video games, contract law and more. I’ve always wanted to wear many hats and truly get what others in the musical world experience by trying it myself.

I graduated with my BA in Popular Music in May 2024, and as I’ve gotten to know more people in the musical community, the importance of uplifting others has become ever more clear to me. I want to be an artist helping other artists, and as I work with more people through Frandsen Agency, my most sincere hope is that I can foster success for others in my community that feel the same passion for what they create as I do.
